| Sub specie aeternitatis. From the point of view
of eternity. This Latin dictum defines the creative credo of famous
master-medallist Yevgen Groshev. He devotes his life to the reflection
of the best human images, aspiring to glorify human genius in the
medals.
Hundreds of memorial, jubilee and rewarding medals, created by
Yevgen Groshev, are found now in many museums and private collections
all over the world. His medals are in Moscow, St. Petersberg, Prague,
Paris, Stockholm, Rome and Delhi. He is the participant of many
national and international exhibitions where his works are marked
by rewards and prizes.
The master is awarded the audience of the Pope Iohn Paul II, the
King of Sweden Charles XVI Gustavus, he is personally acquainted
with many outstanding public, political figures, artists and scientists,
to whom his works were dedicated.
The experts mark the master`s unique art style and his ability
to touch one`s heart with the impressive language of his works.
His medals differ with either their utmost clarity and laconic brevity,
or by their lyricism, romanticism, and sometimes by their ability
to express irony and humorous play. Master Groshev`works are interpreted
easily and organically, as if they radiate heat, joie de vivre,
and differ by deep feelings.
The singularity of the master's style lies in the fact that he
works guided by his insight- without prior calculation and marking.
The inspiration comes when he is looking at the photograph or conceiving
the image. When cast his creation is finished by hand. Such unparalleled
technology allows only a limited number of medals to be created
thus making them more valuable for collectors.
He adorns and flatters no one, but every time creates an expressive
image. Something greater, than a face on a medal, - it`s rather
a symbol. Yevgen Groshev, being a philosopher and poet, attaches
great importance to the texts on the medals. He seeks and accompanies
his works with words and dictums, which are the quintessense of
his heroes` destiny and creation.
Yevgen Groshev was born in 1933. He has Russian, Estonian and even
Scandinavian roots. Different periods of his life are connected
with Russia, Georgia, Kirghizia. Mostly he lives in Ukraine, being
fond of this ancient land and young country. He made his first works
at the age of 15. An outstanding man, who is surprisingly cheerful,
enthusiastic and a man of taste, he rates highly in sincerity in
human relations.
The master creates the memory book, the chronicle of his country
and his planet in metal and in medals. "The medals, - Groshev
says, - are the monuments in miniature. Paints fade, stones turn
into sand but medals survive everything. The world is reach on events
but there are few to be remembered. There are few images, that can
be laid on metal. Only the greatest, only the most beloved".
At the present time the master implements some great projects,
which became the object of the press and got the community support:
- Series of medals "Atlants and Caryatids" tell
us about politicians and public figures, cosmonauts and travellers,
artists and actors, who have become the symbol of the past century.
Among them are Indira Gandhi, the Pope Iohn Paul II, Bill Clinton,
Mikhail Gorbachov, Princess Diana, Nikolai Rerich, Rudolf Nureyev,
mother Teresa and so on.
- "The international project “Ukraine - France".
It`s dedicated to ancient and versatile relations between two
countries from the times of the Queen of France Anna, sister of
Kiev prince Yaroslav the Wise, after the years of Ukrainian Cossack
Philip Orlic` Paris visit (the airport “Orly” is named by his
name), to the times of Serzh Lifar and Solomiya Krushelnitskaya,
who has subjugated French audience by their talent. The project
includes a series of medals, dedicated to people, which names
are well known in two countries: Ilya Metchnikoff, Nikolai Bunin,
Serzh Lifar, Solomiya Krushelnitskaya, Simone Signered, Jacques
Cousteau etc.
- Project "Remember the Past, Believe in the Future".
The project gives an opportunity to esteem another facet of the
master's talent- jewelry-making. The master turned to history
of Russia to develop and execute several types of cups and boxes.
Executed with an exceptional skill a 500- rouble banknote of 1912,
which appears in the face reserves on the cups and boxes, symbolizes
economic power of the Russian Empire at the period and historical
development of the Russian State. On the left side of the banknote
against the backdrop of splashed coins there is a "specialty"
of the item – an empty reserve where the portrait of the owner may
be executed. |
